Place: Olsztyn - Polonia
Date: 12/05/2022
PUA On May 12-13th, 2022, prof. Martín Carbajo Núñez, OFM, will participate in the 6th International Symposium on the family. The general subject of this conference will be: Family – Ritual - Feast. The Symposium is organized by the university of Warmia Ymazury (www.uwm.edu.pl), in Olsztyn (Poland) and prof. Carbajo is part of the Research Council. This will be the fifth consecutive time that Prof. Carbajo is invited to this annual symposium by the University of Olsztyn.

Prof. Carbajo will present the subject: "Technology and Family Rituals." A brief summary of his lecture:

"Prof. Carbajo will analyze the influence that Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) are having on family life and on its rituals. The social model of the family has evolved, but rituals keep being an important part of its internal dynamism. Thanks to rituals, family members build the symbolic structure that gives them cohesion and a horizon of meaning.
ICTs are changing the way family members celebrate their rituals and relate to each other. We will present two case studies to see how families perceive the influence of ICTs and regulate their use. In the first case, we will examine testimonies from families on pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela. In the second case, we will focus on the daily meal.
We will assert the need to use ICTs wisely so that family rituals continue to fulfill their social function and family communication keeps being integral, empathetic, harmonious, an expression of closeness and encounter."
