Summary — The article proposes to illustrate the dynamic function which values fulfill in the process of human and spiritual maturation. These psycholo­gical notions make evident the necessity of adopting an evaluative psychology inspired to an « open » vision of man, as it is offered by the humanistic-existential and transpersonal psychology. On this basis an attempt is made to establish a parallelism among four parametres, which characterise the human person according to a more recent psychology and the vision which St. Francis had of God and the creatures. Resuming the same scheme, the Author tries to mark out in the recent OFM legislation a coherency with the spirit of the Founder.
