Summary: Soteriology is the axis around which revolves bonaveturian theology. This article highlights the traits and tendencies of Bonaventure’s soteriology, especially in his third Book on the Commentary on the Sentences, and places it within the context of Paris during his time. After reviewing the opinions of different specialists from then until now, the author stresses the “merits of Christ”, the therapeutic view of christological atonement, the “excess of the price” paid for us, and the soteriological value of the resurrection.
