SUMMARY — The problem of pluralism in the field of Catholic theology find its solution during the period running between the Fifties and post-conciliar years. From the interdict of disjoining theology from thomism imposed by the encyclical «Humani Generis» one arrives at the declaration on the validity of theological pluralism pronounced by Paul VI. The problem that remains open is that of correlating the notion of theology with the necessity of dialogue with most diverse cultures and philosophies.
