Summary: The concept of excellence can be clarified through the analysis of its institutional process. But, in this process, the focus of the article is the phase of crisis. One main question the author seems to bring up: is the crisis of the principium of excellence due to an environmental reason or to an ideological one? The conclusion offers other interesting questions about the consistency of the crisis. What kind of crisis of excellence can we speak about?
