Summary: With the Second Vatican Council there is an increase in the specific attention given by the Church’s Magisterium to the means of social communicagtions, or as they are most commonly called “the mass media”. Inevitably within this framework the questions also need to be dealt with of the moral responsibilities, duties and rights of the “media” when it comes to the human and civil (and ecclesial) rights to a good name and to privacy. This article resarches and presents, in organic fashion, the Church’s authoritative teaching, arising from her patrimony of reason and faith.
